Patty Bullick, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Are you ready to ease suffering and pain caused by chronic illness, depression, anxiety, stress, or PTSD? Do you seek a solution-focused, goal-oriented approach to your mental health care? Are you looking for judgment-free, compassionate, and committed guidance for your healing journey? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then I'm glad to meet you. My name is Patty Bullick, and I've been providing personalized and effective mental health care to my community for over 20 years.
Collaboration is central to my work with clients. At the beginning of therapy, we will create a roadmap together that directs us toward our desired goals and outlines how we will achieve them. I'm not a big fan of talk therapy; instead, I prefer outcome-based, goal-oriented approaches. I want you to develop tangible and useful skills to alleviate your suffering and pain. Your vision of where you want to be in life and how you want to feel guides my job to help you figure out how to get there.
This type of work can only be done effectively when both parties (me and you) are committed to the process. I am strongly committed to my clients and practice from a place of deep compassion. I prefer to work with clients who are also strongly committed to their healing journey and motivated to work as a team to ease their pain and suffering and create the life they want to live.
Mindfulness-based therapies are wonderful and effective tools for healing work. They have a strong research basis, and I have over 25 years of training in these therapeutic approaches. I have also been learning from a Zen Buddhist teacher for 30 years, who provides me with a multifaceted and nonjudgmental perspective on life. Research-based mindfulness practices and ancient Buddhist teachings integrate nicely into a well-rounded treatment approach.
My clients have been very successful in using my collaborative, committed, goal-oriented approach. Some years ago, I had a middle-aged client with severe chronic depression, anxiety, and PTSD. We created a treatment plan based on her goals, which included CBT, MBCBT, and MBSR. I helped her build skills to manage her day-to-day symptoms. I provided her with taped guided relaxations to use at home. We also used biofeedback equipment to empower her to have control over her physiological symptoms. Through our work together, she developed a toolbox of skills that helped her manage her pain and struggles. Eventually, she felt that she no longer needed professional therapy because of the tools we had built together.
Human life is filled with change, disappointments, exhilaration, and adventures. The trick is to learn to navigate life while staying on top of the wave rather than being crushed by it!
I myself have navigated many ups and downs of life. Now, I have been happily married for 42 years and have 2 beautiful daughters and 4 wonderful grandchildren who are the light of my life. When I am not meeting with clients, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.
