Autumn Collings, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Autumn is a dedicated and passionate therapist, committed to fostering deep connections with her clients so they feel truly understood and seen. Her approach centers on authenticity, emphasizing that meaningful therapeutic relationships are built on genuine connections. With a creative flair, she incorporates hands-on learning into her sessions, drawing from her background in coaching and athletics. This ability to integrate both therapeutic and practical techniques enriches her approach, creating an environment where clients can feel engaged and supported.

Building on this foundation, Autumn holds licenses as a marriage and family therapist, professional counselor, and chemical dependency counselor in Texas. She is also a marriage and family therapist supervisor. Her educational journey includes a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Central Christian College. Additionally, Autumn is trained in EMDR for trauma resolution and has extensive experience with Sand Tray therapy, adding a unique dimension to her therapeutic toolkit.

Since 2015, Autumn has been active in the mental health field, initially focusing on co-occurring disorders and addiction. Over time, her practice has expanded, particularly toward working with children through therapeutic play and sand tray interventions. She specializes in utilizing these techniques to help children express themselves creatively and comfortably, which is essential for effective emotional exploration. Sand tray therapy, in particular, provides a safe and dynamic space for children to visualize and communicate their feelings, facilitating healing and growth.

One of the key benefits of sand tray therapy is its ability to bypass the limitations of verbal communication, especially for children who may struggle to express complex emotions or experiences. By using miniature figures and objects to create scenes in the sand, children can project their inner world and represent difficult emotions or situations in a tangible form. This process offers them a sense of control over their narrative, fostering empowerment and self-expression. The tactile nature of sand tray therapy also promotes relaxation, which helps children feel more comfortable and less intimidated by the therapeutic process. Through this approach, children can safely explore and process trauma, stress, and other challenges, often uncovering new insights and perspectives on their experiences.

For couples, Autumn employs the Gottman methodology to enhance communication and connection, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each partnership. Her passion for education also drives her to share her knowledge, having presented at several conferences on various therapeutic methods.

At the core of her therapeutic approach, Autumn views therapy as a collaborative journey—a space for clarity, growth, and support. She is deeply committed to helping clients uncover their inner strengths and equip themselves with tools for lasting, positive change. Whether working through past trauma, navigating relationship challenges, or simply striving for personal growth, Autumn approaches each session with genuine care and a belief in the resilience of her clients. Her integrative approach blends Narrative and Structural Family Therapy with techniques such as Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, ensuring that each client receives a treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. Autumn truly believes that while past experiences shape us, they do not have to define our future. She is dedicated to helping clients rewrite their stories, empowering them to create a life that aligns with their values, aspirations, and authentic selves. Through her work, Autumn hopes her clients leave each session feeling heard, understood, and more equipped to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
